If you are into chatting and texting, and is on the Sun Cellular network, here’s a another way for you to meet new friends. Sun cellular has just recently introduced their version of mobile chatting, the FRENCLUB.

Unlike the Sun Cellular iMessenger, frenclub does not require the other party to be online on the internet or another iMessenger. All you have to do is to register and once registered, you can chat with other registered user.

Unlike GlobeChat (globe version of mobile chat), which requires you to use some keywords, frenclub on Sun Cellular allows the chatter to reply directly on the message received, and presented with menu(s) for the chatter to select which action to do.

To get started, just type FRENCLUB and send message to 2939. Instruction on how to register and how to get your way to chatting will then be sent to your mobile phone.

Price: PHP 0.50 per message sent (1-1 Chat or Chatroom). A VIP membership (costs PHP 30.00 per week) is offered for Sun Cellular subscribers which allows the members to get up to 100% discount on every chat message. To be a VIP member, just type ON VIP and send to 2939.

frenclub is also available for globe subscribers, but since i had seen this service on Sun Cellular website, i opt to discuss the frenclub on Sun Cellular.

Need to connect with your chat friends wherever you are? (for those who still don’t know) Sun Cellular has long been offering Sun IM (Sun iMessenger), yes that’s chatting with your online friends through your mobile phone.

Sun iMessenger lets you use your favorite instant messengers, and chat to your Yahoo!, MSN, AOL and ICQ buddies all from your Sun Cellular cellphone. Of course offered only for all Sun Cellular Subscribers.

Chatting is just like texting your friends from your cellphone.

I don’t know if upgrade is still available, for those with Java enabled cellphone, there is a Java version that allows you to chat using a graphical interface. Just make sure you have your GPRS enabled. To download the SunIM application, just text UPGRADE and send to 2746. A text message containing instruction on how to download will be sent to your cellphone.
