I am one of the bloggers who excitedly upgraded to Wordpress 2.6  a day after its release. But to my disappointment, I encountered this 404 - Not Found error upon accessing my individual posts.

This made me stay to the older version until today. Luckily I’ve found the solution and I’m proud to say that I’m now using the latest version of Wordpress!

What happened?

google payment receivedYup Yup, I received my first adsense payment last Friday, February 29, 2008!

This blog has been earning from different sources, and adsense is just one of them. My Google Adsense story started last year, August, when I first join the program.

I almost gave up since I barely earn $2/month (huhuhu) for about 4 months. Good thing there are some bloggers who share their adsense experiences, some e-books to guide on how to optimize your adsense ads, Last December, I earned my first US$100!!!

I was surprised earlier after I had posted my post about YuoTube Video Downloads on one of my blogs, when it was automatically redirected to another site, the landing page looks like the picture below:

I was really surprised and thought that my site was hacked, but upon checking the URL of the site where my blog is redirected, part of which contains the following code:

carnival-logo-copy.jpg

This is to officially announce that TechieGirl will be hosting its first blog carnival edition next year which is scheduled to be released on January 02, 2008. Topics are mainly about technology and any related topics and information.

What is a Blog Carnival

A Blog Carnival is a particular kind of blog community. There are many kinds of blogs, and they contain articles on many kinds of topics. Blog Carnivals typically collect together links pointing to blog articles on a particular topic. A Blog Carnival is like a magazine. It has a title, a topic, editors, contributors, and an audience. Editions of the carnival typically come out on a regular basis (e.g. every monday, or on the first of the month). Each edition is a special blog article that consists of links to all the contributions that have been submitted, often with the editors opinions or remarks.

adv.jpgI have been a member of Advertlets since October, but maybe I’m just too lazy to read everything on their website, I just let my membership sit there and forget about placing their ad code on my blog. But just tonight, I received an email from them, announcing that Advertlets will soon be available in the Philippines. Hmm not bad, considering they had been in the business for about 8 months now and running on several Asian countries.

What is Advertlets?

Here’s another company that offers bloggers to make money from blogging. I can compare their service with payperpost wherein you will be given several opportunities that you can choose from. You will then decide whether you’ll take the opportunity on the list or not.

Reliable $1 Web Hosting by 3iXI just want to announce that I had just upgraded my hosting plan, from 2GB of webspace to 10GB. From 10GB of bandwidth to now unlimited. Yeah, yeah there’s no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. So I’d rather say this as, until their server can accommodate.

I can say that I am really happy with 3ix hosting service based on 7 months that I have been with them.

When I had decided to take blogging seriously late September 2007, One major concern that I had dealt with was choosing which web hosting company to host my blog. Of course as a beginner back then, I looked for companies that offer reliable Cheap Web hosting.

It was really a tedious work considering most of the feedbacks I got from Web Hosts review websites were not reliable. Well sorry!! but that’s how I see it.

So, what made me choose to host my blog with 3ix?

smorty.jpgHere’s another way for us bloggers to earn money while expressing our opinion about services, products and websites in our blogs.

In order for you to get paid for blogging, all you have to do is to post your opinions on certain products or services that an advertiser offers. You can choose from several subjects or topics that you may find interesting and relevant to your blog. This would allow you to earn money expressing your opinion at the same time posting an article that is within your blog’s niche.

If you have several blogs, you can submit all of them to Smorty for approval, and once approved, Smorty allows you to post on these blogs, thus giving you more opportunities to blog for money

And guess what? Unlike other opportunities, Smorty will issue their payment on a weekly basis so definitely you’re not going to wait for weeks to get paid.

So what are you waiting for? visit Smorty’s Website now to start earning.

Why do you need to install wordpress locally when you have your blog online? Personally, this is the first thing I researched when i decided to do blogging seriously, for several reasons:construction.jpg

  • I am new to PHP and I don’t want to mess with my live blog while messing with my theme /template’s code.
  • I can still create draft posts with the look and feel of my online blog even if I’m not connected to the internet (for some reason)
  • I can test and debug my blog’s template whenever I want
  • And several other reasons hehehe

If your blog is hosted on a free host and you’re just using a subdomain, and do not have full control over your blog platform’s files, definitely this post will not be that helpful to you. Nevertheless, if you plan to host your own blog site, consider this as your future reference. But still, if you prefer to have a local version of your blog, you may do so.

So what really is a sitemap? Just like a real map do, a sitemap is a tool to help search engines and your visitors on their way to your site.

The Sitemaps Protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site. This allows search engines to crawl the site more intelligently.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sitemaps

Knowing this fact made me realized that my site should have one. Since I am not knowledgeable with the technology used, I researched about some online sitemap generator that can help me with it.
