I was searching for any application that I can install on my O2 XDA Atom Pure when I chanced upon Avot Media’s website. What caught my attention was their product called Avot mV. It is a mobile solution that allows you to view internet videos right on your mobile phone. Isn’t that amazing? Well, it’s really easy to download, you are given two options, either to download the application on your computer then install it on your mobile phone, or to go to Avot Mobile site to directly download and install the application on your phone. The application is available only for Pocket PCs, SmartPhones and Samsung BlackJack running under windows mobile 5 and higher operating system. Support for other phones will be available soon according to them. The download and installation time for Avot mV takes more or less 1 minute. ok now! lets see how Avot mV works…
After the splash screen, the player’s home screen will be displayed, which includes preview of different featured videos and a search box located at the top portion. To get started, you may opt to select on one of the listed entries (scroll down to see all featured videos) or you can type the keyword of the vid you want to view on the search box. Actual Screen (captured using Pocket Snapshot) :
In this case I typed ’pacquiao’ (hehe), I am referring to Manny Pacquiao of course. I watched his fight against Barrera, but… i just want to see some clips of the game… I clicked the [Search] button and here are the search results…
I clicked the first entry and a ’Buffering’ screen appears, basically indicating that Avot mV is buffering the video that i clicked. It takes approximately about a minute and 10 seconds for the Pacquiao - Barrera fight to load (video length is about 1 minute and 6 seconds). I don’t know if this is the same for all phones though. Running the same video gives the same loading time. I guess next time i’ll check for the Pacquiao vs Marquez Rematch Result video on my phone :) According to Avot Media, Avot mV can be used globally across all EDGE, 3G carriers, EV-DO data networks and Wi-Fi, so it can be used whatever connection option you have. I’m trying it now on a wi-fi network. Here are some of the snapshots (FIGHT!) :
Search key: Spongebob Squarepants: Audio and video quality are good, except sometimes, the sound becomes garbled and choppy (on some videos). There are times also that buffering occurs while playing the vid, which i think is normal specially for those with large file size. But nevertheless, most of the videos I tried got good audio and video quality. Videos from the ’Featured Videos’ list and the search results, came from YuoTube, DailyMotion, Google Videos and from various internet video sharing sites, so you definitely have a vast selection to choose from. Avot mV also allows you to create unlimited number of playlists to organize and manage your favorite videos on your mobile phone, and it’s very easy to do. Just click the (+) sign located at the bottom of the video thumbnail/preview, select the playlist you want to associate the video, and that’s it!! If you can’t decide which video to view, Avot mV allows you to select from different channels accessible by clicking the channels option at the lower left corner of the screen. Just select the channel you want and all videos from different video sharing sites under the selected channel will be displayed.
I already watched a lot of videos using this application and i’m kinda addicted to it hahaha. For those who are using Windows mobile 5 and higher, this solution is really worth a try.
