Reliable $1 Web Hosting by 3iXI just want to announce that I had just upgraded my hosting plan, from 2GB of webspace to 10GB. From 10GB of bandwidth to now unlimited. Yeah, yeah there’s no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. So I’d rather say this as, until their server can accommodate.

I can say that I am really happy with 3ix hosting service based on 7 months that I have been with them.

When I had decided to take blogging seriously late September 2007, One major concern that I had dealt with was choosing which web hosting company to host my blog. Of course as a beginner back then, I looked for companies that offer reliable Cheap Web hosting.

It was really a tedious work considering most of the feedbacks I got from Web Hosts review websites were not reliable. Well sorry!! but that’s how I see it.

So, what made me choose to host my blog with 3ix?

  • Offers Cheap Web Hosting! As a newbie in the blogosphere, I don’t want to spend much on my hosting plan as of that time. So with a $1 per month for a 2GB of space with 10GB of monthly bandwidth, I can’t help but sign up to their plan.
  • They offer a 30day money back guarantee, no questions ask.
  • LIVE customer support. I can’t help to laugh at myself when testing this service. I ask the operator the ff. question: ‘hi, are you a robot or a real person‘ and some other questions which I choose randomly just to justify that i am talking to a real person. So far, all the operator I had talked with passed my evaluation. Although, you can’t expect a technical answer from them.
  • Fast activation. Upon payment, my account is activated instantly. Even the upgrade takes no waiting time after my payment has been made.

Here are some basic features of their lower hosting plans:

EXCITE ($12/yr - 1 month free)

  • Webspace: 5GB
  • Bandwidth: 10Gb
  • Host 1 website
  • Database: 2 MySQL Database
  • Unlimited FTP Accounts
  • 20 Sub domains
  • 20 email accounts
  • Control Panel
  • Fantastico Auto Installer
  • Apache Web Server
  • PHP
  • Frontpage Extensions Support
  • Red Hat Linux
  • And a lot more

EXTRA ($33/yr - $18/6months - 1 month free)

  • Webspace: 20GB
  • Bandwidth: No Limit
  • Host 3 websites
  • Database: 10 MySQL Database
  • Unlimited FTP Accounts
  • 50 Sub domains
  • 50 email accounts
  • Control Panel
  • Fantastico Auto Installer
  • Apache Web Server
  • PHP
  • Frontpage Extensions Support
  • Red Hat Linux
  • And a lot more

I was initially subscribed to the EXCITE plan and just today, upgraded to EXTRA plan. Based on my experience with them, though considered short, I will definitely recommend 3ix as your website host.
You can visit their website for available hosting plans.

Incomplete List of Downtimes:
November 2007 - once 15hours
March 14, 2008 - once 2 mins.
May, 2008 - 5times - 30minutes total
June, 2008 - 6 times - 2.5 hours total

Well if downtimes increased this June, I think I’ll consider looking for a new host.

Amy on November 5th, 2007 at 12:30 am

aww sorry to hear that…
so far so good on this one…
are you still hosting your site with the one you had mentioned?

niessuh on November 5th, 2007 at 6:58 am

I’m planning to apply there for a $1 hosting. I’m just saving money. $3 left. HEHEHE. I’ll sign up under your affiliate url. It’s nice that it is reliable (according to you).

Amy on November 5th, 2007 at 8:35 am

well my site is still alive until now haha
plus since i’m happy with the service, i had upgraded my account to a higher plan…

I experienced a down time around mid october, for less than a minute.. aside from that, no downtimes at all..

thanks in advance for signing under me…

niessuh on November 5th, 2007 at 2:25 pm

actually im so excited to have one. I can’t wait. hehe.. i’ll do purchase first the $1 for one year then if I got some enough money I’ll upgrade.

Amy on November 5th, 2007 at 2:59 pm

yeah that’s what i did. Then I decided to upgrade just recently.. I paid only the difference since I am not yet done with the first subscription

donalyza on November 5th, 2007 at 11:26 pm

why do you have to pay for 12/yr if you can get it for free?… I know a site who can host your site for free with 100GB Bandwidth and 200MB Webspace.

Amy on November 6th, 2007 at 1:17 am

for almost 3 months, this site was hosted for free with 20gb of webspace and 300gb of monthly bandwidth.. but nothing more secure than paying for your site’s hosting . You don’t rely on anyone and you don’t have to worry that much since you pay your host to do their job.
oh by the way, that free host where techiegirl used to be hosted already shutdown.

niessuh on November 6th, 2007 at 11:13 am

just got my hosting from there and register under your referral.

Amy on November 6th, 2007 at 11:55 am

thanks so much…
just give me some feedback on their service after a month :)

Paul on December 25th, 2007 at 1:45 am

I will never ever ever use 3ix again! I have hosted with them twice and had problems both times… so much trouble that I had to move my site to another host to have peace of mind… 1 minute for the site to load was just the start of my troubles…

seocontest2008 on February 22nd, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Hi Amy,

I am researching about this hosting company and reached here. I found lots of bad reviews about 3ix but I found a nice review on your blog.

Are you still using this hosting? I am working with a company and I wish to create couple of blogs of my personal use. It will be great if you share your experience with me.

I am bit confused about few negative reviews about 3ix hosting.

Thanks in advance.

Amy on February 22nd, 2008 at 11:05 pm

look at my page footer, there is still a logo of powered by 3ix

the longest down time I had experienced with 3ix was about 15hrs

after that, less than a minute, maybe one every 3months

it is always a risk but I took the risk inspite of the bad comments…
I had seen comments repeatedly done on different review sites, I think they are paid bad reviews… my idea :)

Sahil on February 26th, 2008 at 7:45 pm

I have started with them 2 days ago and my pages take 1 min. to load..lol..with almost nil stuff on site….
they are making me crazy…
guess, i am unable to even upload complete site till now because of SUPER SLOW connection speed.

anyone knows if they really pay ur money back if i go for money back guarantee…
i paid with credit card…using 2checkout

Amy on February 27th, 2008 at 12:40 pm

ow thats sad to hear..
good thing this site is not experiencing the same (I guess?)…
you better talk to their customer service regarding this…

Upul on May 20th, 2008 at 5:51 am

Hi Amy… I came into this blog by a chance…I was using 3ix for my conpany site and it was quite ok… then for my friends site I used 3ix..His site is down for 14 1/2 hours… right now… still not up….. so this is not for business… but for family and friends may be…

Rohit on June 11th, 2008 at 3:57 am

Hi Amy,
For the first time, I have came against a good review of 3ix company. I too read many bad reviews about them but after buying hosting from them. I experienced downtime of 15hours yesterday. In 10 days of hosting experience, they had downtime of 15-20 minutes on alternate days.
I am thinking of getting money back.

caireann on June 19th, 2008 at 12:55 pm

A friend of mine here in Singapore got one webspace on 3ix.org and asked me to take care of it.
We has minour glitches which were very fast fixed by 3ix.org although my friend only got a 1$ plan.
Until now no complaints about that hosting, althoungh the website at times can open slightly slowly.

Hosting features have in the meantime been upgraded now 10Gb and 20Gb bandwidth can be obtained for 1$/month.
What I find a bit meagre is the only 20 email accounts and 2!! only MySQL databases you get for that money.
Cant do much with only two MySQL databases.

Other blogs also report about the negative side of having a 3ix account which is that unusually many viruses are being scripted into webpages at 3ix.
I cant say anything yet about that.

Caireann,
Singapore

3ix are the worst webhosting service you will ever find… i’d advise everyone to steer clear of them.. unless you like the sound of a server that loses your database and tech support staff that have no idea how to fix things

Nico on July 8th, 2008 at 9:54 am

I have tried
http://www.marblehost.com
they are really cheap and the service is great.

Tony Cathey on July 9th, 2008 at 8:30 pm

I just hosted my blog http://www.imablogger.net with 3ix, and I am in a downtime right now…I guess that is what it is. They say they are working hard to fix it, but it has been 3 hours.

Peter Waller on July 28th, 2008 at 12:01 am

I used to have this URL until something went wrong and now trying to do the ‘chat’ thing with their ‘techinical’ (read really unhelpful) people who read it off a script like most ’sevice providers’ these days
I am seeking another provider and I really don’t care if it is cheap or not - I have found cheap is nasty - especially when it comes to 3ix

caireann on August 28th, 2008 at 12:11 am

Hello,
I have to review my comments from above.

In the meantime I found that if I download software packages (e.g. XOOPS) and install them on one of those cheap accounts hosted by 3ix.org then they are .htaccess blocked by the server.
Then the only thing you get out of it is a misconfiguration error.

Then You write in to host-care (3ix) explain everything and after loads of dragging of feet problems are sometimes solved.

I have installed XOOPS.
Got a misconfiguration error..
after long discussions 3ix adjusted it.
Then I installed some modules, because XOOPS without modules is basically useless.
Until today I am still talking to 3ix to get the settings fixed so that I can use the modules.

At 3ix too many people are involved and everything has to be explained to everyone from scratch.
So, I dont know when I will get my usually easy to install software running.

caireann on August 28th, 2008 at 12:15 am

Peter I know what you mean.

That chat thing at 3ix never works because too many “cooks” are involved there and everyone is dragging his feet at good as possible in order not to understand whats going on.

On the other hand, I know one with a 5$/month account at 3ix.
That page works smoothly without any problems installing software.

I think they think: “Its only a 1$/month page, so, we dont really want people to use it with a purpose”

Peter on September 1st, 2008 at 12:38 am

I thought I would get an uber-cheap host while developing the beginnings of a game development company.

Unfortunately, my research led me to 3ix. In the months since beginning my account in May, I have had the pleasure of dealing with the following frustrating problems:

- Invoking traffurl.ru before page loading, which caused a delay on any page loaded. Solution: Support “did something”, and it worked.
- MySQL database wipe, and support’s inability to restore from a backup. Solution: I had to redo part of my website. I implemented my own custom backup system “just in case” it happened again.
- Inability to send email to my Mailman mailing list. Solution: Tech support “did something” and it worked.
- Inability to send email with a mail client configured on standard SMTP port 25. Solution: Support suggested I reconfigure the mail client to use port 26. Still fighting on this one.

All I can say is, you get what you pay for. I will not renew my account with 3ix, and I am in the process of finding a new host.

Best regards,
- Peter

caireann on September 29th, 2008 at 11:58 pm

Peter, there is nothing free or cheap.
If it is free or cheap then there is always a reason:

Today I found out that they have messed up my entire “ticketing” system.
So, problems reported to 3ix are all in a mess.

Just now some messages of mine appeared nearly 2 month late.
Old answers of mine are now mixed with new informations and everyone thinks my old requests are new ones.

Until now they dint solve that software cannot be installed without asking host-care for help
and “pathinfo” also doesnt work.

No, 3ix cannot be recommended for a serious web page.
